How to review your data changes
When an import contains changes that could overwrite existing data, Data Review asks you to review them before they are applied. This gives you more control over your data and helps prevent unwanted updates.
What this feature does
It lets you review incoming changes, compare old and new values, and choose whether to accept or reject them before they update your records.
When review is needed
Some imported changes are applied automatically, while others are marked for review. Review is required when a change would overwrite existing information in Muto Connect.
You may see pending changes from a few different places in the platform:
- Import History — to review all pending changes
- Import details — to review changes from one specific import
- Entity details — to review changes for one employee, asset, or other record
Important: Changes that do not create a conflict are processed automatically. Only overwrite-related changes require your review.
How to review import changes
- Open the alert or status message that indicates changes are waiting for review.
- Click Start review or Review changes.
- Check the grouped changes shown for each record.
- Compare the current value with the new imported value.
- Choose to accept or reject each change.
- Click Confirm to save your decisions.
In the review screen, changes are grouped by record, such as an employee or asset, so you can work through updates in a clear and structured way.
What you can do during reviewThe review flow is designed to be flexible. You do not need to process everything one field at a time unless you want to.
- Review all changes in scope at once
- Review all changes for one record together
- Review individual fields one by one
- Accept all or Reject all when everything is still pending
- Accept all pending or Reject all pending if some decisions were already made
You will also see a progress indicator that shows how many changes have already been reviewed.
Tip: If you already know that all remaining pending changes are correct, you can use the bulk action buttons to save time.
Partial review is supportedYou can confirm only part of your review and come back later.
If you accept or reject some changes and then click Confirm, only those reviewed items are processed. Any remaining items stay pending and can be reviewed later.
For example, if one employee has four changed fields and you review only one of them, the other three will still be waiting for review the next time you open the flow.
Previously rejected changesIf a source system keeps sending the same change that you rejected before, Muto Connect shows it again in later reviews.
- The change appears as auto-rejected
- The interface shows the date of the original rejection
- You can still undo that rejection and accept the change if needed
This helps maintain consistency while still giving you full control if circumstances change.
Where else you will see pending changesPending changes are visible in multiple places so they are easy to find.

After or during the import process, you can also inspect the imported items overview.
This view helps you understand what happened in the import by grouping results by entity and showing summaries such as:
- Entity added
- Updated multiple fields
- Entity removed
You can expand a row to see more detail about what was added, changed, or removed.
What happens after you confirmWhen you click Confirm, Muto Connect applies the changes you accepted and discards the ones you rejected.
You will see a confirmation message when your decisions are saved. If the save does not succeed, Muto Connect shows an error message and asks you to try again.
Good to know: All accept and reject actions are logged for traceability.
Best practices- Review pending changes regularly so imports do not remain unresolved
- Use bulk actions carefully, especially when reviewing overwrite-sensitive data
- Check previously rejected changes before accepting them, especially if the source system keeps sending them
Why are some changes applied automatically while others need review?
Only changes that could overwrite existing data require manual review. Non-conflicting changes are processed automatically.
Can I review only part of an import and finish the rest later?
Yes. Reviewed items are processed when you confirm, and the rest remain pending.
Can I review changes for just one import or one record?
Yes. Muto Smart Import supports scoped review for a single import or a single entity.
What if I rejected a change before but now want to allow it?
You can undo the previous rejection and accept the change during a later review
